In 2009, the earth passed between the sun and Neptune on August 15 and then between the sun and Jupiter on August 17. That was a month before they conjoined heliocentrically. The moon was new on Aug 20 and full on Sept 4th following that. Looking at quake statistics for 2009, you can see that an M 7 quake happened in Java on Sept 2, when the moon conjoined Jupiter and Neptune, following the earth's crossing the line between them and before their heliocentric conjunction. You can also see an M 8.1 quake on Sept 29th in Samoa, when the moon conjoined Jupiter and Neptune again; this time following their heliocentric conjunction. There was an M 7.5 in Sumatra on Sept 30th. The 8.1 quake was the largest in the world in 2009.

As I said, Jupiter conjoins Uranus heliocentrically Sept 23, 2010. From what we see above, it would appear that the presence of the moon has an effect on the timing of the quakes. At the time of this conjunction, the earth crosses the line between the sun and Jupiter and Uranus, the same day as the conjunction. PLUS the moon is full that day, just following the equinox. That is, on Sept 23 we have in a line, the sun, the earth, the moon, Jupiter and Uranus.
![]() The chart above tells you when the moon is closest to the earth each month, and it tells you how far from the new or full moon it is, there by showing you when the tides peak. For instance F + 2 means 2 hours after the full moon, and we see that on Jan 30th. That is when the tides peaked early in 2010. The Haiti quake happened two weeks before that, and the Chile quake happened on Feb 27, when the perigee was 18 hours before the full moon. Looking at August we see the perigee is 14 hours after the new moon on Aug 10th. In September it is 6 hours before the new moon Sept 8th. While those dates are sure to produce hurricanes, I recommend that the two most likely periods for quake peaks are near the full moon Aug 24 and Sept 23.
California EarthquakesLooking at the timing of earthquakes in California, we only find two big quakes that were not associated with Jup/Nept conjunctions or with Pisces solar eclipses. One of those was the 1994 Northridge quake and the other was the 1872 Owens Valley quake. As was pointed out above, Uranus conjoined Neptune in 1993, just before the Northridge quake. It should be noted that the Northridge quake happened in January when Venus conjoined the sun, just like the 6.5 quake off the coast of Eureka on Jan 10, 2010. That quake and the Haiti quake occurred on either side of the conjunction of Venus and the sun.
![]() 26 March 1872 M 8.5 Quake The 8+ Owens Valley quake of 1872 happened under the same set of circumstances that we are seeing today. Then Jupiter was conjoining Urnaus, and both of them were opposing Saturn. What I am suggesting is that, while we have passed the Pisces eclipses, and Jupiter has already conjoined Neptune, and we have seen a spike in Califoirnia quake activity, there is an outside chance that another big quake will result from the oppostion of Saturn to the conjoining Jupiter and Uranus as we saw in 1872. With that in mind, it is hard not to see that possibility increasing in Septmeber.
