From Pentagram to Pyramid

Offset

Although I had read several books that dealt with the Great Pyramid before beginning a study of the DC map, it had never struck me that the King and Queen's Chamber were offset from one another. Looking north, the coffer in the King's Chamber is in line with the apex, while the entrance and passages are offset to the east.

In the west looking view (below) the Queen's Chamber is centered under the apex, and is aligned with both the opening of the subterranean chamber and the Great Step at the top of the Grand Gallery, while the King's Chamber is offset to the south.

We see the same offset in the DC landscape, looking north past the Washington Monument and the White House. You will note that the top of the monument looks not unlike the Queen's Chamber.

This image shows that the monument is more closely aligned with the House of the Temple (red rectangle) than with the White House. You will note in this regard, that Hargrave Jennings, in his book "Phallicism", associates obelisks (similar to the Washington Monument) with the male genrative force, and the pyramid (like that which tops the House of the Temple) with the female force.

This same dualism is depicted by the square and compass, where the square is associated with the earth and matter, and is considered to be female, while the compass is associated with the heavens and spirit, and is considered to be male.

The following image, taken from L'Enfant's plan for the city, depicts the position originally proposed (marked A) for an equestrian statue of George Washington. You will note that this position is directly south of the White House, and directly west of the Capitol Building, forming a right triangle.

In David Ovason's book ("Secret Architecture of Our Nation's Capitol") we read that the Washington Monument "was sited in such a manner that it was neither on the north-south line from the White House (as is 16th Street to the north of the WH), nor on the line extended due west from the capitol."

"The displacement ...was 371.6 feet east of the original meridian line (which ran through the White House) and 123.17 feet south of the east-west line, which was centered on the Capitol dome.

The reason given for the displacement is that the ground in the original position would not support the weight of the monument, but as Ovason points out, even the current location required considerable foundation work.

Now take a closer look at the pyramid. As you can see, not only is the QC shifted to the "right" of the KC, but there is also a 2 foot step down (shift) in the passage leading to the QC.

As you can see, the area around the White House in the map, bears an uncanny resemblance to the King's Chamber in the pyramid image; including the releiving stones and the Great Step at the top of the Grand Gallery, an appropriate name for Pennsylvania Avenue, as well.
